The Opportunity

We are looking for an Associate Software Developer to join the Product Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of processes across the full software development lifecycle, from business ask through to production implementation in support of strategic initiatives. 

Who you’ll work with

The Product Engineering team is comprised of software developers and testers operating in several agile delivery squad supporting all Divisions across Teachers. As part of one of those squads, you will work collaboratively in a cross-functional agile team to bring new features and platform enhancements from conception to release by interacting with product owners, consumers, and external product and delivery teams. Through regular rotations, you will have the ability to get exposure to variety of business functions and delivery squads. 

What you’ll do

  • Implement high quality and well-designed systems under the direction of a supervisor or development lead. 
  • Develop/communicate personal work plan and the task details appropriate for the on-time completion of all work assignments. 
  • Participate in the planning of software development tasks, testing, deployment and maintenance. 
  • Maintain currency in technological trends and directions through research/education/self-motivated technology experimentation. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

What you’ll need

Qualifications: 

  • Computer Science or Engineering degree or equivalent education.  
  • Practical knowledge of standard software development best practices such as code review and continuous integration.  
  • Experience using object-oriented programming languages such as Python, Java, C# 
  • Understanding of testing strategies including unit, integration and end-to-end testing. 
  • Experience with delivery tools such as GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, Maven, Jenkins, Bamboo, Sonar is preferred but not required. 

Abilities: 

  • Good organizational, analytical and complex problem-solving skills.   
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with technical professionals, as well as users who are non-technical experts.   
  • Ability to work with supervision, to prioritize work assignments, to meet deadlines and produce an adequate volume of work.   
  • Ability to work well with supervision in an agile delivery team. 
  • Resourcefulness, creativity, good judgement and documentation skills
